In his collection of stories, No One Will Ask for Anything, which has just been published, Serhij Zhadan writes: “We wait, warm ourselves, think that the birds will return, that spring will return, that this strange life will continue and carry us away, like the current carries away the shoes of drowned people.”
The feeling of being at the mercy of war, says Olga, is difficult to explain. We got talking on the train from Przemysl to Kyiv. She comes from Bucha, the town that has become synonymous with the cruelty of the invasion.
